The Great American Smokeout is a national awareness day sponsored by the American Cancer Society that started in the 1970s. Every year, this event encourages smokers to quit and provides helpful resources for them, including quitting information and support. Because of the support provided by the Great American Smokeout, many Americans choose the day of their community’s event to quit smoking and start their journey to a healthier future.
Cleveland is recognizing this day by both hosting a recognition ceremony for the winners of our 'Take A Stand' youth counter tobacco poster contest and resource fair reception.
The first 50 attendees who join us wishing to quit using tobacco, will receive 'quit kits' filled with items to help them through the first 24 hours (and beyond) on their journey to freedom from smoking!
Winners of the youth poster contest will have their artwork displayed in Omni Media kiosks around the city for us to remember the importance of quitting tobacco all month long.
We hope you will join us for this life changing event!
Thanks to our partners and sponsors who made this possible including:
Cleveland Department of Public Health, Omni Media, Lake Erie Ink, Hispanic Alliance Inc and all the members of the Breathe Free Committee of the Healthy Cleveland Initiative
