The Cleveland Clinic Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) is a response to the Community Health Needs Assessment. This program combines resources within the East Cleveland, Fairfax, Glenville, Hough and Central/Kinsman communities to target education, nutrition and physical activity.
As part of the HCI, three (3) Eight Week Health Challenges are held throughout the year. Neighborhood residents representing each area acquire points by attending health and wellness classes and events held at partner locations. The neighborhood earning the most points wins the Challenge.
Residents are individually awarded for participation, decrease in their Body Mass Index (BMI) and scheduling clinical exams at the Cleveland Clinic Langston Hughes Community Health and Education Center including the Jonnie Ruth Brown Mammography Suite and the Women’s Clinic.
