We're AMPing up our programming for seniors to encourage healthy aging.

Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging has partnered with the Cleveland Department of Aging and the National Council on Aging to launch Cleveland’s first ever Aging Mastery Program!

The Aging Mastery Program (AMP) is a nationwide program that has been offered in over 100 locations throughout the country. AMP is a free 10-week course that is offered to seniors to encourage healthy aging. In 2016, AMP will be offered to seniors throughout the city of Cleveland. This program is a fun and innovative approach to engage and educate older adults about aging wellness. Throughout this program, seniors discuss various aspects of aging, including physical well-being, healthy eating, medication management, financial fitness, and social engagement.

As our lifespans continue to increase, most people are not prepared for the impact that advanced age will have on their daily lives. It is essential for seniors to become better-educated about how their lifestyles can impact their longevity and overall quality of life.

The program utilizes a variety of engaging approaches, including expert speakers, peer support, group discussion, and evidence-supported learning materials. The overall goal is to educate seniors on small steps that they can take to improve quality of life. AMP has been proven to help seniors throughout the nation increase their social connectedness, healthy eating habits, and physical activity levels.

This February, AMP launched at the Zelma George Recreation Center, Bohn Rose Center for Aging Well, and Collinwood Recreation.

Beginning in April, the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging and the Cleveland Department of Aging will be running the Aging Mastery Program at Gunning Park Rose Center for Aging Well, Lakeshore Rose Center for Aging Well, and Woods Rose Center for Aging Well.
